Healthy Aging Has No Room For Stress

A stressful life is a big no-no if you want to pursue healthy aging. If you want to experience the joys of healthy aging, you should learn to manage stress or completely re-define it so that it does not become a deterrent to your quest for health and longevity.
Stress is a major silent killer because it leaves no trail. Nobody ever had a death certificate that indicates the cause of death as stress, right? In other words, medical diagnosis always points to a heart attack or hypertension or some other deadly disease as the culprit. In reality, however, people who suffer from these ailments are usually under tremendous stress as well, which drives them to do harmful things like over-eating or drinking or smoking. Then they develop these diseases. The point is, stress is so well-cloaked in other ailments that it goes undetected in a lot of people. If you want to achieve healthy aging, you should be keen on unmasking stress in your life and doing it as early as possible.
Healthy Aging By Busting Stress
If you aspire towards healthy aging, it is wise to determine whether you are in any way under some stress. If you are, which is usually the case for most people, identify the source of your stress. Do not focus on the symptoms but go deeper to the root cause. Once you know the source of your stress, you are in a better position to address or manage it.
Managing stress does not necessarily mean eliminating it altogether. However, if you want to achieve healthy aging, you will have to learn to cope with stress by rearranging your priorities in life and by learning to relax and unwind to rejuvenate your mind and body.
For example, if money and career are your priorities now, and they are constantly the reason why you drive yourself too hard, maybe it's time to review what truly matters in life and hopefully to realize that there is more to life than those. You have family and friends who will be there for you towards the path to healthy aging. You have other endeavors that are also worth devoting your time to. You have your values and principles that are worth fighting for, never mind if it means giving up your dreams of becoming filthy rich.
Managing stress towards healthy aging means accepting the things in your life that you can not change at all, then going on to change those that you can. For example, if your problem is an annoying neighbor, it is beyond your control to change his attitude. So, give up on that and do not be further stressed by your frustration over him. Then, go ahead and change your attitude towards him or the annoyance that he brings ? now that is one thing you can do something about.
